Transition Assistance Program
The mission of the Transition Assistance Program is to assist veterans, service-members, dependents, and survivors in the transition from the military to college life.
FLC - Freshman Learning Community
This class is designated for those veterans and recently mobilized service members who could benefit from a semester long transition class to get them oriented to the college environment. This class is designed to assist students by giving them the basics of college and getting them off on a path to success. This is done hour credit course which meets once a week for a semester. Students will gain valuable information and participate in various activities designed to provide them with the necessary academic and social resources. The class will cover topics such as; Learning Center Resources, How to use the Library, Career Center Resources, Academic Wellness, Social Skills/ Organizations, Veterans Benefits, etc.
The Center for Veteran and Military Affairs also works with all academic departments on campus to assist all veterans, service-members, dependents, and survivors to ensure academic success while at UA.
Career Transition Assistance Program
The Center for Veteran and Military Affairs works with local, state, and federal agencies in an effort to assist veterans, service-members, dependents, and survivors in their pursuit of a successful and promising career upon graduation from UA. By partnering with the Career Center, students will have opportunities to develop resumes designed to capture their military experience and training and incorporate those skills with their degree to enhance their chances for employment beyond graduation.
Family Assistance Program
The Center for Veteran and Military Affairs assists veterans, service-members, dependents, and survivors with other family needs such as jobs, local housing, day care and any other needs that may arise. While the Center cannot guarantee certain employment or housing, we do work closely with local businesses and realtors, and complex managers to make every effort to accommodate all students with their needs.
